Pink Wintergreen Lozenges

Pink Wintergreen Lozenges deserve a place in the candy Hall of Fame as they are one of the oldest candies available! The original was made by NECCO who went out of business in 2019 but the new ones, manufactured by RITO, taste almost as good – maybe even better! Imitation, after all, is the highest form of flattery!

Much like White Peppermints, the original pink lozenges first appeared in Canada during the late 1880s, but didn’t arrive in the United States until the early 1900s, hence their nickname “Canada Mints.” Originally sold in bulk, it wasn’t until 1916 that they were offered as a $.05 count good which gave them pride of place on any well-appointed candy counter.
