Few candies have such a diverse pedigree as Whoppers. The first chocolate-covered malted milk ball, called Giants, was introduced in 1939 by the now-defunct Overland Candy Company.
Eight years later, this company merged with the Chicago Biscuit Company (also defunct) and Leaf Gum, and it wasnt until 1949 that their name was changed to Whoppers.
